Klara and the Sun x Little Free Libraries – Influencer Marketing

Every year, Star Wars Day gives fans a reason to celebrate one of the world's most beloved franchises. To mark May the 4th and build anticipation for the release of the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars Funko Pop! collection, MKM executed a targeted influencer gifting campaign focused on authentic fandom.

Stories have a way of finding the right readers. To celebrate the release of the first trailer for Klara and the Sun, Sony Pictures launched a national activation that blended literature, film and community discovery by hiding copies of the bestselling novel inside Little Free Libraries across the country.

To bring the campaign to life, MKM sourced local tourism, entertainment and pop culture creators in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver and Philadelphia to document the surprise book drops and encourage their audiences to discover the hidden copies in their own communities. Each book contained a special note from star Jenna Ortega, along with a QR code directing readers to watch the newly released trailer, seamlessly connecting the novel's legacy with the upcoming film adaptation.

Rather than relying on traditional promotional content, the campaign embraced a real-world scavenger hunt that inspired creators to explore their cities, engage with local Little Free Libraries and share the excitement of discovering a hidden book with their followers. The result was authentic, community-driven storytelling that celebrated reading while introducing audiences to the film in a memorable and unexpected way.

MKM managed influencer sourcing, creator outreach, campaign coordination and content management across multiple U.S. markets.
